Find Spot record 10100/34 - Medieval finds at Commerce House

Two phases of archaeological evaluation in the car park at Commerce House on Hunter Street recorded small quantities of medieval material.

The first phase of activity in 2001 comprised four test pits (No's 3-6) from which a small quantity of medieval finds were recovered from later, post medieval, contexts including a single fragment of medieval whiteware of a 13th-14th century date and a late medieval brown stoneware fragment from Cologne. (1)

The second phase of activity in 2002 comprised a single test pit in the car park from which a small quantity of medieval finds were recovered from later deposits including a medieval handle sherd of a 13th-14th century date and two fragments of coarse earthenware of a 16th century date. (2)
