Full Description
During the excavation of a test pit, and a watching brief, below the floor of the ruined west tower of St John's Church in 2000, a small amount of Roman pottery and ceramic building material was recovered as residual finds in mixed deposits containing otherwise medieval material (1). Note that natural sediment, nor the base of this deposit, were reached during these excavations.
