Summary

Archaeological investigations at 12-22 Commonhall Street in 1991 recorded evidence of a late Roman demolition layer across the site, however, the small scale nature of the trenches meant it was impossible to identify remains of the preceding structure.

Full Description

Archaeological investigations on the site of 12-22 Commonhall Street in 1991 recorded evidence of a spread of Roman demolition material across the site. Roman demolition material was recorded in five of the six evaluation trenches cut across the site in 1991 (1). Subsequent excavations at the site in 2003 also recorded a burnt layer across the site (2)
