Full Description
Sealed beneath a thin sandy silt layer in Trench 1, stratigraphically similar to two gullies or ditches recorded at this site (CHER 8127), a group of shallow features cut into the natural clay were identified during an archaeological evaluation carried out at The Bars, Chester, between 1998 – 1999 (note that the results of this excavation are available only in draft form) (1).
These comprised two circular features measuring 0.2m and 0.26m in diameter respectively, and both were 0.1m deep. Also identified were a series of thin linear features, none of which contained any finds (1).
