Full Description
Recent archaeological investigations at the Linenhall Stables (2002) recorded evidence of Roman activity in the late first to early second century. A shallow ditch recorded on a north-west to south-east alignment contained charcoal and Roman pottery and is thought to have been the remains of a boundary ditch. A soil horizon rich in domestic rubbish of a late frist to early second century was also recorded underlying a stone surface and is thought to represent cultivation soils. (1)
