Full Description
What was interpreted as a relatively extensive cultivation layer containing Roman period finds was found in the area of St Olave's St. by at least two different but nearby excavations (1, 2). Work carried out in 2000 (2), produced a large number of finds, including pottery, ceramic building material and animal bone, but their report does not provide any detailed dating information.
Later work, in 2002 (1), appear to have recovered less material, but were able to narrow the date range to between the first and third centuries.
