Monument record 4674/0/1 - Mersey & Irwell Navigation - Bridge & Aquaduct at Mile's Bite

A line of wooden posts observed in the River Mersey at low water (1).

The Ordnance Survey 1st edition 25" to 1 mile map depicts a bridge at this location which is labelled 'Wooden bridge'. The equivalent map for Lancashire labels it 'Footbridge'. The 3rd edition 25" to 1 mile Lancashire map also depicts this bridge as an aqueduct which connects a long channel known as the 'Bye Wash' or 'The Feeder' (CHER 4674/0/1), which ran between Manor Locks on the Latchford Canal and Paddington's Lock on Woolston New Cut (2, 3 & 4).
