Summary

Tan House Farmhouse is a grade II listed building. It dates from the early eighteenth century, but was partially rebuilt in the late eighteenth - early nineteenth century. A date stone over one of the doorways has the initials I.C. and the date 1714, no doubt reset from the earlier building, part of which may survive as the 2 storeyed stone wing at the rear. Ordnance Survey maps dating from the late nineteenth century depict a range of farm buildings and orchards. An Ordnance Survey map dating from 1909 depicts a saw mill in the farmyard. The mill is visible on aerial photographs dating from the 1940s, but appears to have been demolished by 1970.
