Description

1. 5144 WEATHERCOCK LANE BUGLAWTON Tan House Farmhouse SJ 86 SE 5/61 II 2. Late C18-early C19 partial rebuilding of early C18 building. L-shaped on plan. Main part 3 storeys, red brick with rusticated quoins and stone plinth; gabled end; tiled roof, saddlestones to gabled ends; brick bands between storeys; ,three 2-light C19 casement windows to 2nd storey. 1st storey has a segmental headed 2-light casement window to left and right of a tall narrow stair light partly carried down into ground storey. Ground storey has 2 segmental headed 2-light casement windows and central C19 4-panelled door recessed in rusticated stone surround with head stone containing tablet with initials I.C. over date 1714, no doubt reset from earlier building, 2 storeyed coursed stone wing at rear, possibly remaining part of original building; gable end tiled roof with central doubled tall brick chimneys; gable end has saddlestone and kneelers; irregular altered casements with stone lintels; 2 doorways with stone lintels and garage doors. Gabled end has loft door with irregular stone rustication. Listing NGR: SJ8944462919
