Summary

Cross Street Mill probably dates from the mid nineteenth century and was powered by a steam engine located on the north-western side of the mill building. By the 1870s the mill building was being used as an agricultural machine works. By 1910 part of the mill building housed the Elelctric Picture Theatre until 1914.

An Agricultural Machine Works is depicted on this map. Located at the north western end is a chimney, engine house and boiler house.

The corresponding plot on this map appears to be free of buildings.

This building housed an early cinema operating by 1910 and which closed around 1914. See CHER 5277.
