Description

A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was undertaken on approximately 5 hectares of land located to the north of Bellevue Lane, Chester, Cheshire. Medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation was detected along with a former field boundary and former ponds. Weak linear anomalies of an uncertain origin have been located which are in the vicinity of a Roman camp reported in the HER, whilst there might be a correlation it’s likely they are of an agricultural origin. Magnetic disturbance along the limits of the survey area is from metal fencing within the field boundaries. Based on the geophysical survey, the archaeological potential of the Site is deemed to be low. (1)
