Description
A programme of building recording, including photographic survey, was undertaken in October 2017, in advance of conversion of redundant farm buildings at Aston Park Farm to form three dwellings. The focus of this building recording project are barns A and C. (See also ECH6564/SCH8506 for similar recording undertaken for Barn B in 2018).
Aston Park was formerly part of the Arley Estate. The site was comprised of Aston Hall, a handsome five bay Georgian house dating to 1715, and the associated farm buildings to the rear of the house. Aston Park was sold in the 20th century, and the farm and the house were divided. The farm remains in business, with 240 acres of arable and beef farming. The house at Aston Park is a Grade II* listed building and, as the farm buildings are considered to be within its historic curtilage, they are listed by association. (1)
