A photograph labelled "Excavating Iron furnaces at Highfield in 1972" appears in the source listed below (p.28). Location taken to be that of the 19th century house labelled Highfield on OS first edition maps. The same source includes two photographs of excavated Roman iron furnaces in Northwich (p.15) and discusses the process of iron production. (1)
