Description

An Elizabethan mansion (listed grade I) it was completed in 1585 and stands on the site of earlier halls. It has had significant alterations in 1830 and the estate and park were reduced by sales of land and timber in the early 1800s. In the later 20th century there were further sales of parkland, walled gardens and utility buildings, now all in divided ownership. However the 1830 layout and the Victorian planting of the hall's environs remain intact and have been restored recently.
