Description
Part of a tessellated pavement found c1780, in addition to a quantity of Roman finds, found during clearance activities in the outer bailey of Chester Castle to make way for Thomas Harrison's new buildings (1). One source also reported that concrete foundations were revealed, and that these were 'very difficult to remove' (2).
