At some time around 1790, sections of a concrete foundation were revealed during works at the Castle, which were described as 'rather difficult to remove'. Although the exact location of this find is unknown, it may have lain within the area of the County Hall block.

At some time around 1790, sections of a concrete foundation were revealed during works at the Castle, which were described as 'rather difficult to remove' (1, 2). Although the exact location of this find is unknown, it may have lain within the area of the County Hall block (3). Probably located in the southern half of the Castle area (4).
