Description

This event was a trial excavation of thirty-five trenches across the site, in advance of a proposed redevelopment of Dee House, Chester. The work examined the foundations of the existing building, with a view to adopting a mitigation strategy for the design of the foundations for the new building, and established the depth at which significant archaeological deposits survive. Thirty-five trenches were excavated, largely by hand, with Roman and medieval deposits and features identified across the site (1).
