Description
A watching brief to monitor groundworks in the area of 6 Hunter St. was carried out at some time in 1996, as this area was being developed as part of the relocation of the Princess St. Mission Hall, in advance of the then proposed Forum Redevelopment Scheme. The upper portion of fourteen small trenches were excavated by hand, then any archaeological features were cleaned and recorded. All trenches produced evidence of Roman occupation, largely in the form of substantial masonry and associated surfaces.
