Description

A small archaeological evaluation, comprised of one trial trench, 1m wide and running the length of the site, was excavated to the rear of 27 Watergate Row to inform propose redevelopment plans, as no previous archaeological work was known to have taken place in this area. Nineteenth century architecture including a brick-vaulted bread oven, backfilled with material from c1950, in addition to an enigmatic brick structure with a fill of late eighteenth or early nineteenth century date were recorded.
