Description
Three evaluation trenches excavated in 1991 prior to proposed redevelopment on the site of No. 32 Foregate St., Chester. The results indicated a good degree of preservation of archaeological deposits and features. Modern disturbance to a depth of 0.65m was noted across the site. Small quantities of Roman and Saxon evidence was recorded however medieval and post medieval artefacts were better represented. The presence of groundwater in several trenches suggests a good preservation potential of organic material.
