Description
Series of discoveries reported during construction work for drains, sewers and watermains along the newly built Cliveden Road, Lache near Saltney between 1930 and 1935. The discoveries were reported to Newstead who also took possession of any finds.
The area is referred to as North and South Areas respectively, and from both areas Roman drainage ditches and extensive evidence of architecture was recorded, leading Newstead to conclude that this was a relatively large settlement extramural to the Roman fortress. Nearby, a human skeleton in association with a cattle skull was previously reported in 1899 (1).
