Description
Evaluation investigation as part of the redevelopment of the area for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre. A series of trial holes were investigated, only one of which produced significant results. This trial hole recorded part of the caldarium of the bath building (3)
Notes on work carried out in the Pepper Street area including section cut through the Pepper Street frontage adjacent to St Michaels Church where evidence of the rampart was noted, also at the west end of St Michaels Street (Grosvenor Garage), to the rear of 14 Newgate Street, to the rear of 26 Newgate Street and at the Grosvenor Garage
The evaluation was followed by more extensive excavations which encountered more substantial evidence
