Description

An excavation undertaken to locate the medieval guildhall. No evidence of the structure was found, possibly because the excavation was too limited. The stratigraphy of the area had been confused by road working close to the churchyard. Most of this area had once been part of the graveyard and was much disturbed by grave digging. There were many chronologically varied finds including medieval decorated tiles, lead shot, human bone and large quantities of medieval pottery.
