Description
In 1975-6, due to the threat of demolition, the almshouses built in 1638 by Sir Edmund Wright were relocated from their original site on Hospital Street to a site adjacent to Crewe's Almhouses (CHER 179/0/45) on Beam Street. Excavation of the original site by D.Wilson failed to reveal any remains earlier than 17th century.
