Description

In 1976, Bridgegate House, Bridge Place, Lower Bridge St. Was subject to extensive structural repairs, and the work involved the excavation of trial holes in the basement to establish the level of the bedrock, prior to underpinning the foundations (1). Quantities of Roman pottey was recovered but although medieval masonry is mentioned it is not discussed (2)
