Description
Statement of Significance produced in 2023 for the semi-detached properties No.'s 36 & 38 Knutsford Rd in advance of proposed demolition. The houses are not listed, not locally listed and are not located within a Conservation Area. A building appears on the 1841 Tithe map for Chorley in the approximate location of the existing pair of semi-detached houses. The study concludes that No. 36 Knutsford Rd originated as a two storey early 19th century cottage and at the time of survey was in poor condition. No. 38 is a rebuilding on the site of an earlier structure and dates to the late 19th century. The existing buildings do not have sufficient special architectural or historic interest, or local character to qualify for inclusion on the Cheshire East local list or to be considered as a non-designated heritage asset.
