Please read our .

Summary

An early 19th century building decribed as a homestead and croft on the Chorley tithe map of 1841 and also present on Bryants map of 1831, suggesting that the building is at least early 19th century in origin. A building survey in 2023 confirmed that No. 36 Knutsford Rd, a two storey brick built cottage, dates to the early 19th century; No.38 is a late 19th century building on the site of an earlier structure. Both properties are due for demolition.

The houses are not listed, not locally listed and are not located within a Conservation Area. A building appears on the 1841 Tithe map for Chorley in the approximate location of the existing pair of semi-detached houses. The study concludes that No. 36 Knutsford Rd originated as a two storey early 19th century cottage and at the time of survey was in poor condition. No. 38 is a rebuilding on the site of an earlier structure and dates to the late 19th century.
