Abstract/Summary
A level 2 building survey and photographic record undertaken in 2022 for Oak Cottage, Dooleys Lane, prior to alteration and renovation. The building is first shown on the 1841 Tithe Map for Pownell Fee, where it is depicted as a rectangular building orientated roughly north-south and occupying plot 947. The tithe schedule record lists the site as ‘Cottages and Gardens’, occupied by Peter Birtles and owned by a James Dooley. The cottage appears relatively unaltered on all subsequent Ordnance Survey mapping up to the present date.
