Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief undertaken by Castlerigg Archaeology in November 2015 during ground disturbing works associated with the construction of a new dwelling in advance of demolition of the existing farmhouse at Beech Farm, Worthenbury Road, Caldecott.
The development site lies within an area clearly steeped in medieval history, including the presence of good quality ridge and furrow to either side of the farm access drive. Cartographic evidence of the farm site dates to 1839 at least. The site has undergone several phases of building and rebuilding since 1839. As a result, although evidence of demolished structures was present, no additional archaeological features were recorded and no finds were recovered during this work.
