Title Chester Racecourse: Alterations and Improvements to the Parade Ring. Archaeological Watching Brief
Author/Originator
Report Number
Date/Year 2009

Abstract/Summary

No archaeological deposits dating to the period prior to the 19th Century were uncovered, earlier archaeological deposits were thought to be potentially sealed beneath/within the exposed naturally formed silts and were not affected during the development groundworks. The watching brief identified the remains of late post medieval features associated with temporary structures erected during fairs, circuses and race meetings.
