Abstract/Summary
A broken Mammuthus primigenius tooth was recovered by a dredger working the Chelford Sands from a horizon at least 27 m below ground surface. Organic-rich sediment infilling two of the tooth cavities has yielded pollen spectra from a post-temperate substage of an interglacial. This is tentatively correlated with the Ipswichian.
