Abstract/Summary
The archaeological work involved light trowelling and a drawn record of the stratigraphy. This produced a sequence of events associated with the infilling of the medieval ditch with some evidence that there may be potential for the survival of environmental evidence in the primary silting. Finds from layers associated with this event suggest that the site was in occupation during hte twelfth to fifteenth centuries AD and that there had also been earlier occupation in the vicinity during the Romano-British period, although there is no evidence that this was continuous. At a date after the ditch has appreciably infilled a second, much smaller ditch was cut through the infill, probably in the late post-medieval or early modern period.
