Source/Archive record SCH4510 - Geophysical Survey Report. Basford West, Crewe.

Geophysical survey was undertaken in 2003 for 22 fields totalling approximately 50ha on the southern outskirts of Crewe, just north of Shavington. The area contains a number of low earthworks, predominantly ridge and furrow. To the north-east of the evaluation area a field contains evidence of brick kilns and clay extraction pits. The survey identified some linear and pit-type anomalies which may be archaeological, other anomalies are related to drainage or dumps of modern debris in the topsoil.
