Description
Following on from the earlier assessment (ECH4012/SCH4521), a geophysical survey was undertaken in 2003 for land at Basford West, Crewe, a total of 22 fields, approximately 50ha in area. The area contains a number of low earthworks, predominantly ridge and furrow. To the north-east of the evaluation area a field contains evidence of brick kilns and clay extraction pits. The survey identified some linear and pit-type anomalies which may be archaeological, other anomalies are related to drainage or dumps of modern debris in the topsoil. (1)
