Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken, in December 2001- January 2002, during the demolition of four 1940s bick houses at Stanlow Point. The site lies immediately south of the farmyard which replaced Stanlow Abbey, a Cistercian Abbey and later grange farm dating to the early twelfth century. The southern boundary of the farmyard lies 12m to the north of the rear wall of the 1940s houses. However, no archaeological remains of the abbey complex were observed.
