Abstract/Summary
Archaeological evaluation of a proposed extension to the housing development area at Harbutt's Field, King Street. Five trenches were excavated within the area of the proposed extension and along the line of a sewer leading away from this area to the west (along the northern and western sides of Harbutt's Field). Only one feature of possible archaeological significance was identified, this was a ditch which was also identified in 1993 through geophysical survey. Pottery recovered from the ditch was inconclusive in terms of dating, but it is thought that the ditch probably represents a boundary/agricultural feature of medieval or post medieval date.
