Ditch feature located during geophysical survey in 1993, in close proximity to the NE side to the Roman fort 1080/1/0
<2> Gifford and Partners, 1996, Report on an Archaeological Evaluation at Harbutt's Field, Middlewich (Stage 5)., R2122 (Client Report). SCH4172.
A trial trench was dug through this feature in a subsequent evaluation in 1996. It revealed a ditch, U-shaped, 2m wide and 0.45m deep with concave sides and a rounded base. One post medieval earthenware and one Roman (Black Burnished) sherd were recovered from the fill. It was concluded that the ditch was probably a medieval agricultural feature.
