Abstract/Summary

Archaeological evaluation undertaken in 1992 in advance of a residential development on land at Tytheringon, near Macclesfield. The evaluation followed on from a preliminary assessment, which identified the potential for archaeology including Bronze Age remains. It comprised geophysical survey and the excavation of three trial trenches. Trench 1 investigated a field bank probably dating to the early post medieval period. Trenches 2 and 3 investigated geophysical anomalies in the vicinity of the previous find of a Bronze Age perforated stone axe-hammer, no archaeological features were identified.
