The existing hedge runs along a bank approximately 0.5m high. The fact that little ploughing is likely to have taken place across this area since the medieval period may point to a feature related to woodland clearance, possibly at an early date.
<2> Gifford and Partners, 1992, Report on an Archaeological Evaluation at Tytherington, Macclesfield., R2030/p13 (Client Report). SCH4157.
Trial trenching confirmed this feature to be a field boundary. No finds were recovered but it is clearly not a modern landscape feature. Probably dates back to early post-medieval period.
