Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2000 during groundworks associated with alterations to the boiler house at the Church of St. James, Audlem. Although only a small area of the church was disturbed during the building works the results have proved interesting. Foundation work observed benath the west doorway, although not dated accurately, may be medieval in date. A sectional view trough 2m of vertical stratigraphy has also demonstrated that the church lies on a natural mound of glacial deposits.
