Abstract/Summary
In July and October 1992 the excavation of groundworks and service trenches for an extension to Terra Nova School were archaeologically monitored. This work was undertaken because the school lies in the middle of a group of early Bronze Age barrows. However, no features of archaeological significance were encountered this was partly due to the significant degree of truncation of deposits resulting from the construction of the Pre-Preparatory school in the 1970s. Only two archaeological features and one deposit pre-dated this truncation. One feature appears to have been contemporary with the construction of Jodrell Hall in the post medieval period. The other was potentially earlier in date with a piece of brick (not dateable) recovered from its fill.
