Full Description
<1> C S Dobinson, 2000, Twentieth Century Fortifications in England: Supporting paper AA/1; Searchlight Sites in WWII (Report). SCH4458.
Searchlight battery at Ashton. Manned by 352 Company of 38 (The King's Regiment) AA Battalion RE. It was in Section 11, Number 14. It was part of the Liverpool defences and is part of a much larger distribution that covered large areas of Cheshire, some of which are shown as part of this group. However this list is far from exhaustive and should only be considered as an example of searchlight layouts for the war.
<2> The GeoInformation Group, 2005, 1940s RAF Aerial Photographs from Operation Review (Aerial Photograph). SCH4608.
Three circular emplacements are visible on this image. The layout is not symmetrical and doesn't follow the classic clover leaf formation for the arrangement of the searchlights.
<3> Bluesky International Ltd, 2010, 2010 Bluesky Survey, UXP_101010_5078, 10/10/2010 (Aerial Photograph). SCH5444.
The emplacements are visible as soilmarks.
