Full Description
A Hydraulic Sewage Lift built c.1900 by Messrs Adams of York. A tall plain cast iron column carries a tall hexagonal cap with felt covered roof. It contains a pump and header tank for providing pressure to force sewage over a rise and into Chester’s sewage system. It is a significant, visually prominent local landmark. The lift, though no longer in use, is a significant local landmark and is maintained in good repair (1).
Some pipes may survive underground as well as the machinery inside. The site is graded to be of clear national importance with appropriate statutory protection. Listed Building Grade II (2).
