II
Hydraulic Sewage Lift : c.1900 by Messrs Adams of York. Tall plain cast-iron column with a simple moulded plinth and cornice carries a tall hexagonal boarded cap with a pyramidal felt roof with a pointed finial. This contains a pump and header tank for providing pressure to force sewage over a rise and into Chester's system. The lift, though no longer in use, is a significant local landmark and is maintained in good repair.
