Full Description
Mannings Lane and The Street may be part of the Roman road from Chester to Wilderspool. From Chester the road probably went by Brook Lane to Hoole Bank (via Mannings Lane and The Street) and then continued in a north easterly direction to Bridge Trafford (1). Street Field is shown on the 1838 Tithe Award (2). The Street is designated Roman in the old 6inch OS map and in the 1inch OS 7th edition (3).
