Summary

The earliest recorded reference to the manor of Grappenhall appears in Domesday when it was held by Osborn, son of Tezzo, an ancestor of the Boydells of Dodleston. A family tomb in this name was recorded in the church and they were patrons of the rectory for some time from the reign of Henry III. Subsequently the manor passed into the ownership of the Marburys of Marbury Hall .

Earliest recorded reference to the manor of Grappenhall Appears in Domesday when it was held by Osborn, son of Tezzo, an ancestor of the Boydells of Dodleston. A family tomb in this name was recorded in the church & they were patrons of the rectory for some time from the reign of Henry III. Subsequently the manor passed into the ownership of the Marburys of Marbury Hall (1).
