Summary

There are three fields recorded in the 19th century as Brickiln Meadow, Bottom Brickiln Field and Top Brickiln Field. These names suggests the presence of a brick kiln though there are no visible remains.

The field adjacent to the junction of Penny's Lane and Crowder's Lane was formerly divided into 3 fields called Brickiln Meadow, Bottom Brickiln Field and Top Brickiln Field on the 1846 Tithe Apportionment. This field name suggests 'land on which bricks are made'. There is no visible evidence for a kiln site.
