The field adjacent to the junction of Penny's Lane and Crowder's Lane was formerly divided into 3 fields called Brickiln Meadow, Bottom Brickiln Field and Top Brickiln Field on the 1846 Tithe Apportionment. This field name suggests 'land on which bricks are made'. There is no visible evidence for a kiln site.
