Summary

Three mounds were identified during an earthwork survey carried out in the grounds of Vale Royal House. All three features are degraded by ploughing. They may be part of landscaping that took place after the abbey was destored and a house built from its remains.

Three mounds were identified during an earthwork survey carried out ahead of a planning application for a golf course. They were numbered 52-54. 52 was a slightly elongated and reggularly shaped feature, 15m in diameter, its W end merges with the slope but the E edge is 0.3m above the adjacent ground surface. 53 was sub-circular 18m x 12m, about 0.3m high. 54 was a sub-circular 13m x 12m slightly elongated feature extending downslope. Its W end merges with the slope. All three features are degraded by ploughing.
