Summary

An iron furnace was established at Vale Royal in the late 17th century by the Foley family and continued to be used in the 18th century. The exact site not located but the bellows were driven by streams draining Petty Pool and Vale Royal. However, it appears to have never been financially viable. Field walking in 1995 located a large quantity of iron slag in the area immediately to the west of the Great House.

An iron furnace was established at Vale Royal in the late 17th century by the Foley family and continued in the 18th century, from 1716 under Albraham Darby. The exact site not located but the bellows were driven by streams draining Petty Pool and Vale Royal. However, it appears to have never been financially viable
