Full Description
<1> Johnson B L C, 1971, The Iron Industry of Cheshire and North Staffs - 1688-1712 (Report). SCH3194.
An iron furnace was established at Vale Royal in the late 17th century by the Foley family and continued in the 18th century, from 1716 under Albraham Darby. The exact site not located but the bellows were driven by streams draining Petty Pool and Vale Royal. However, it appears to have never been financially viable

Field walking located a large quantity of iron slag in the area immediately to the west of the Great House.
