Full Description

By 1300 there were two watermills at Bradley, with ponds and watercourses (1). In 1965 little survived of the mill building, but the wheel hole existed with remains of the wheel covered by rubble. The site of the pool is now almost obscured. The tailrace runs through a stone culvert directly into a further pool for Bradley Lower Mill (RN:992/1) (2). There were formerly two mills on the brook. At the Higher mill is a dried up pond, remains of sandstone and brick walling, site of wheel pit and slight traces of wheel. Pond for lower mill converted to garden: mill is now a residence (3). Shown on Burdett 1777, Bryant 1831 (4).
